The Natural Feather's Mission Statement: 

To care for our parent birds in a natural, holistic way, modeling their housing and diets after those of their wild counterparts so as to enable them to produce happy, healthy and confident chicks capable of growing up to be wonderful, loving companion birds. 

 Who We Are: 

The Natural Feather is a small hobby breeding facility located on a working farm near the wonderful town of Brookings, South Dakota, home of South Dakota State University.  Emily, founder and bird-keeper of The Natural Feather, holds a BS in Wildlife, Fisheries and Conservation Biology with an emphasis in Wildlife Management from the University of California, Davis.  The Natural Feather is the end-product of her life-long passion for companion birds and her desire to share her passion and her holistic approach to bird-keeping with fellow bird enthusiasts.

A major goal of The Natural Feather is to create environments for our parent birds that closely resemble the habitats of their wild counterparts.  All of our breeder birds are housed in large flight aviaries thus enabling them to obtain the exercise and stimulation necessary for the maintenance of their physical and mental health.  We feel that the well-being of our parent birds is imperative in that healthy, happy parents tend to produce healthy, happy offspring that grow into spirited, playful and loving pets.  

The Natural Feather is committed to helping you choose the appropriate bird for your individual lifestyle and takes pride in working with you to create a natural bird keeping plan that will enable you to meet the physical and emotional needs of your new feathered family member for the duration of it's life.
